SummaryHan Gyu-jik (한규직, 1845-1884) was a military official during the late Joseon Dynasty. His courtesy name was Sunjwa (순좌), and his pen name was Daok (다옥). He was from the Cheongju Han clan (청주 한씨). Han Gyu-jik was the son of Hansa Han Seung-ryeol, and the older brother of Han Gyu-seol, who later became Prime Minister of the Korean Empire. He received favor from Empress Myeongseong.
Career and Death

• He passed the military examination (무과).
• 1883: Appointed as the Yeoyeongdaejang (어영 대장) and also supervised the newly established Gyoryeonso (교련소), which was called Chingunjeonyeong (친군 전영).
• He was killed in 1884 during the Gapsin Coup, a coup d'état led by reformists.
