The K-50M is a Vietnamese-made submachine gun based on the Chinese Type 50/PPSh-41, which itself is a version of the Soviet PPSh-41. Here's a breakdown of its key features and history:
Development and Production:

• Origin: North Vietnam, during the Vietnam War.
• Production Years: 1958 to 1964.
• Manufacturer: Produced in small, local workshops.
• Based on: Chinese Type 50 submachine guns (copies of the Soviet PPSh-41).
• It was North Vietnam's way to modify and produce infantry weapons.

• Inspiration: The design drew inspiration from captured French MAT-49 submachine guns.
• Caliber: 7.62x25mm Tokarev (same as the PPSh-41).
• Stock: Replaced the original wooden stock with a sliding wire butt and a wooden pistol grip (similar to the MAT-49).
• Barrel: The barrel jacket was shortened by nearly three inches, with the muzzle compensator removed.
• Front Sight: A new front sight, was tap welded on the barrel's end.
• Weight and Length: It was four inches shorter and two pounds lighter than the Soviet and Chinese PPSh-41.
• Firing Mode: It retained the original's ability to switch between automatic and semi-automatic firing modes using a lever near the trigger.
• Magazines: could use 71-round drum magazines but was designed for use with curved 35-round magazines.

• The first models of K-50M submachine guns were captured in South Vietnam in 1963.
