"흥해" (Heunghae) refers to several different things:

• Heunghae-eup (흥해읍): A town (eup) in Buk-gu, Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.
• It was formerly called Uichang-myeon, upgraded to Uichang-eup in 1980, and renamed Heunghae-eup in 1983.
• The Heunghae Town Office is in Okseong-ri.
• As of April 2022, population was 40,752.
• Its area is 106.75km².

• Heunghae Co., Ltd. (주식회사 흥해): The first private tugboat company in Korea, established in 1972.
• The founder, Bae Sun-tae, was the captain of the first Korean-flagged oceangoing ship.
• He was also Korea’s first official pilot and he founded the Pilot's Association.
• The company is currently one of the largest in the West Sea (Yellow Sea) and the largest and strictest tugboat company operating in western sea of Korea.
• They have a fleet of more than 16 advanced tugboats with high-power engines.
• They are responsible for port safety in Incheon, Pyeongtaek, Dangjin, and Boryeong.

• in 1914 it was merged and became Heunghae-myeon as part of Yeongil-gun.
• in 1956 it was renamed Uichang-myeon.
• in 1973, it became a town, and was promoted to eup status.
• in 1983, it was renamed back to Heunghae-eup.
• In 1995, Yeongil-gun and Pohang-si were merged, it is now a part of Pohang.
