2. 줄거리
링고는 전도유망한 권투 선수였지만, 형의 죽음에 대한 소식을 듣고 전국 타이틀을 잃은 뒤 은퇴한다. 이후 링고는 아내 글로리아가 자신의 라이벌인 엘 투르코와 떠나면서 홀로 아들 산티를 키우게 된다. 글로리아는 산티의 양육권을 요구하고, 링고는 아들을 지키기 위해 다시 권투 선수로 복귀한다.
링고는 복귀 과정에서 우연히 훌리아를 만나 사랑에 빠지지만,[8] 훌리아는 이미 디에고와 약혼한 상태였다. 디에고는 훌리아와 링고의 관계에 질투를 느껴 훌리아에게 링고와의 관계를 정리하지 않으면 약혼을 취소하겠다고 협박한다.[22] 훌리아가 링고를 사랑하게 되면서 디에고와의 약혼을 취소하자,[34] 디에고는 링고에게 복수를 다짐한다.[34]
