BANDI-60 is a small modular reactor (SMR) design being developed by KEPCO E&C (Korea Electric Power Corporation Engineering & Construction) since 2016. Here are some of its key features:

• Type: Block-type pressurized water reactor (PWR).
• Power Output: 200 MWt (thermal) / 60 MWe (electrical).
• Design Features:
• The block-type design connects main components directly (nozzle-to-nozzle) instead of using connecting pipes.
• This design eliminates the risk of a large-break loss-of-coolant accident.
• It has improved operational surveillance and maintenance compared to integral-type designs.
• It is designed for floating nuclear power plants.
• Passive Safety Systems: BANDI-60 incorporates multiple passive safety systems, including:
• Passive Safety Injection System (PSIS)
• Passive Residual Heat Removal System (PRHRS)
• Passive Containment Cooling System (PCCS)
• Fuel: Uses UO₂ fuel with a maximum enrichment of 4.95%.
• Refueling Cycle: 4-5 years.
• Design Life: 60 years.
• Applications: Designed for niche markets, particularly for use in floating nuclear power plants, and for power generation in off-grid and remote areas.
