The Zhuk-AE is an X-band active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar developed by Phazotron-NIIR Corporation. It's designed for use on fighter aircraft, specifically the MiG-35. Here's a breakdown of its key features and capabilities:

• AESA Technology: The Zhuk-AE is the first Russian AESA radar to be publicly disclosed. AESA technology provides several advantages over older radar systems, including increased range, improved target tracking, and enhanced resistance to jamming.

• Range: The radar has a detection range of 140-160 km (87-99 miles), and this can be extended to 250-280 km (155-174 miles) with more receive/transmit modules. A prototype with a 600mm diameter has been tested on a MiG-35, initially achieving a 60-65 km range, later increased to 130 km by improving module power.
• Coverage: The azimuth coverage is 140 degrees.
• Modes: It features both air-to-air and air-to-surface engagement modes, supporting precision-guided weapons delivery, and ground-mapping.
• Modularity: Zhuk-AE radar was developed with modular approach, enabling upgrading existing Zhuk ME/MSE radars.
