NGC 4248 is a galaxy located in the constellation Canes Venatici (The Hunting Dogs). Here are some of its key characteristics:

• Distance: It is approximately 24 million light-years away from Earth. Some sources give slightly varying distances, such as 23.5 million light-years, or a Hubble distance of about 33.1 million light-years.
• Type: It is classified as a small, irregular galaxy. Some sources, however, also describe it as a barred spiral galaxy or a peculiar dwarf spiral.
• Discovery: William Herschel, a German-British astronomer, discovered NGC 4248 on February 9, 1788.
• Characteristics: It contains glowing gas, dark dust, and many stars. It presents a wide HI line, meaning it contains neutral hydrogen, and it includes regions of ionized hydrogen.
