4. 3. 진상 조사와 후속 조치

미국 의회는 벵가지 사건에 대해 미국 하원 벵가지 특별 위원회를 포함하여 총 10번의 조사를 실시했으나, 버락 오바마 행정부 고위 관계자의 명백한 잘못은 밝혀내지 못했다.[247][248]

국무부는 벵가지 사건 이후 재외공관 보안 강화를 위한 조치를 취했다. 또한 미국은 리비아 내 극단주의 단체에 대한 감시를 강화하고, 리비아 정부의 특공대 훈련을 지원했다.[205]
